First, in any small business you will have an excess of requests to paying customers and it is difficult to appear upbeat and positive all the time, but it must be done. Nothing scares people off more than a desperate people. A desperate sellerperson make a mistake that frighten off the customers and it is the customer who is most likely then go away and tell their friends and family about how they had a bad sales. This is a very bad word of mouth (WOM) advertising and should be avoided.
In the first year of your business, you can not expect to earn a million dollars and it is dangerous to try, even if you are there for long-term and build up the assets you want to sell within five years. Building a business means building relationships while providing something that your customers need. They do not need to make you rich in the first year of trading so be sure to keep a reality check on your accounts bottom line.
Many new small business owners have a sense of loneliness. After all, if you already work with lots of people around you that you can “chat” with over coffee, and you now find that to even get a coffee break is difficult, you will miss the social interaction with others. There is nothing wrong with this, and you should not feel strange. Many other small businesses owners have this sense of isolation too, and that is another good reason for you to join a small business association in your city.
The Small Business Association (SBA) was founded and is managed by individuals who own a small company. There is strength and unity in numbers and for a new entrepreneurs, they can be a wonderful source of practical information. This is not a good idea to use them to “moan and groan” in about how many customers you have. Instead, it is not a good idea to go there and show off your success. Balance and fairness is more important in your relationships with other entrepreneurs as it is in your book.
There are many common problems that many new small businesses face, but also there are solutions to these and all you have to do is know where to look to find them.
